Metsovo
Metsovo is one of the most important mountain settlements in the Pindos region, with a strong historical, cultural, and economic presence. The settlement developed as a center for livestock farming and trade, and is closely linked to the activities of great benefactors who contributed to the intellectual and social development of the region.
Its architecture, with stone houses and wooden elements, remains largely unchanged. For visitors, Metsovo offers museums, traditional products, local cuisine, and access to hiking trails. In winter, it serves as a base for winter activities, while in summer it is an ideal place to cool off and explore.
Zagorohoria
Zagorohoria is a cluster of 46 traditional villages that enjoyed considerable historical autonomy during the Ottoman period. Their prosperity is reflected in the architectural quality, stone bridges, and organized network of trails.
Monodendri and Vitsa offer easy access to viewpoints overlooking the Vikos Gorge, while Kipoi is known for its historic stone bridges.
Papigo (Megalos & Mikros) is a base for hikes to the Towers of Astrakas, while Aristi combines traditional hospitality with easy access to Voidomatis.
The Zagorohoria villages are ideal for visitors seeking nature, history, hiking, and authentic accommodation.
Konitsa & the surrounding villages
The Konitsa area serves as a transition point between organized mountain tourism and the wild nature of the Pindos. The traditional character of the surrounding villages remains strong, with stone houses and a peaceful pace of life.
Its proximity to the Aoos River makes the area ideal for rafting, hiking, and nature activities. At the same time, the historical route of the area is linked to traditional migration and mountain self-sufficiency. For visitors, Konitsa is an excellent base for exploring isolated villages and natural landscapes.
Tzoumerka
Tzoumerka is one of the most authentic and least touristy areas of Epirus. The landscape is rugged, with deep gorges, rushing rivers, and small traditional settlements.
The villages of Syrrako and Kalarites stand out for their architecture, history of livestock farming, and connection to silversmithing and benefactors. The area is ideal for canyoning, hiking, and alternative experiences in nature, but requires good organization due to its mountainous character.
Pogoni & its Villages
Pogoni is an area with a strong folkloric identity and deep roots in the traditional music and customs of Epirus. Its villages are characterized by simple architecture and authentic character, without intense tourist development.
The area is ideal for visitors who want to experience the Epirus of everyday life and tradition. A visit is recommended in conjunction with local festivals or cultural events, which offer meaningful contact with the local community.
